Lodge Business

This year it is very important that all of our members, families and friends get out and vote in November. Your voice needs to count.

Three new members were accepted into the lodge.

Terry Bohan with Charter Communications spoke to the members about how the company and support staff can support law enforcements emergency requests and subpoena's, court orders, warrants, etc. He provided a handout with contact information for agencies as the need arises.

Cobb Co Commission Chair Mike Boyce spoke to and fielded questions from the members. Commission Boyce covered many topics such as the budget, police personnel, pension fund and many other topics. The members always appreciate his willingness to speak to the members.

President Gaynor updated the members on the National Convention on August 10-14 in New Orleans. He advised the following candidates are being endorsed by the Georgia State Lodge in statewide races. Each received 80-85% of the endorsement votes from members ballots returned to the lodge. Governor: Brian Kemp, Lt. Governor: Geoff Duncan, Attorney General: Christopher Carr, Ga Labor Commissioner: Mark Butler and Ga Insurance Commissioner: Jim Beck.

Secretary Stephens states all is well with membership and the rosters are current. In addition all lodge taxes to the IRS have been submitted.

Treasurer Kelly provided the members a review of our current finances. Both the Lodge and Charities Inc are in good financial condition. Copies are available at all lodge meetings.

Sgt at Arms Shroves handled several maintenance issues at the lodge and delivered school supplies to the Cherokee County Schools for our Back to School Program

State Trustee Thompson reports that he delivered school supplies to 4 schools in Douglas County and 4 schools in Paulding County. Brother Thompson also advised he assisted with food/drink purchases and whatever else was needed during the annual Florida Trip.

All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month.
