Monthly Meeting Review

January 8 2020

The meeting was opened with a prayer and pledge by Sister Sylvia Robinson. Members enjoyed a Hamburger, Hotdog and Brats dinner. Many thanks to all who help with the food preparation. Our next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, February 5th at 5:00 pm. All members are encouraged to join us prior to the meeting (1630 hrs) for dinner. Sister Sylvia Robinson won the $50 attendance award and donated it to our Cops & Kids Program.


Jason Marbutt running for Cobb State Court Judge and Craig Owens running for Cobb Co. Sheriff stopped by to introduce themselves to the members. The EBoard is in the process of inviting all running for these positions soon to one of our meetings to address the members and talk about their campaigns.

Lodge Business

Nine new members were voted into the Lodge.

President Gaynor - Recently had a meeting with Cobb County Manager Rob Hosack and Cobb Public Safety Director Randy Crider to discuss the Step & Grade Plan. Brother Gaynor thanked all who helped with the Afternoon with Santa Event and both of the Cops & Kids Shopping Events. They were all a tremendous success.

VP Jon Byrum - Discussed and provided specifics on the proposed Step and Grade for Cobb County Public Safety. A formal vote is expected on 28th and the lodge is encouraging all Cobb Public Safety members to attend the Commissioners Meeting to hear the specifics.

2VP John McCraw - Nothing to report 

Secretary/Treasurer Stephens - Brother Stephens provided a report on our membership efforts during 2019. We ended the year with 800 members. He also provided a financial overview of both the Lodge and Charities Inc. A 2020 budget for the lodge was presented by Brother Stephens. Members approved the budget unanimously.

Sgt at Arms Dimare - Checked the lodge during the month and all was well.

2nd Sgt at Arms Matthews - was absent but he delivered Christmas Food Baskets to elementary schools in Douglas County.

State Trustee Shrodes - Brother Shrodes coordinated the food purchase of food for our Christmas Food Bag Program. A total of 120 bags was distributed to elementary schools in Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas and Pauling County. He delivered a share of the bags to elementary schools in Cherokee Co. All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month. POAB Application

Membership Information

Yearly dues for our members in 2020 will continue to be $78 for active members and $35 for retired members. All online 2020 payments will have a $3 convenience fee added when using our Paypal Account. On April 1st a $32 penalty will be added to the cost for all who have not paid their 2020 dues.

Legal Representation

All members are strongly encouraged to join the FOP Legal Defense Plan. For $68 a year (in addition to your dues) the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents) or civil action taken against the member. For $310 a year the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents), civil or administrative actions taken against the member. Many other benefits are provided when full coverage is purchased. Payment can be made either annually or semi-annually. Because of the number of members in our lodge these plans are only available at the individual rate. Sign up and payment to this plan is the sole responsibility of the member. Death Benefit/Beneficiary

All active members are requested to update their personal information and beneficiary information on an annual basis on our application form. The application form must be mailed to the Lodge Secretary. This can only be done on a paper application form and mailed to the lodge secretary. This record allows benefits to be paid in a timely manner.

Lifetime Membership

All members wishing to apply for a Life Membership (retired & a member 20+ years) must request it in writing. Please contact the Lodge Secretary if you need your join date.

Lodge Rentals

The lodge is for the exclusive use of our members and only available for rental by them. Please conact President Gaynor for cost if you wish to reserve the lodge.

Cookies with Santa

Was a tremendous success. We had about 120 children in attendance this year. All enjoyed food, crafts and Santa Claus.

Cops & Kids Shopping Program

Our 1st event served 202 school children at the Target Store, 4125 Austell Rd., Austell Ga. on December 18th. It was the largest number of children we have ever served and all went well. Many thanks to all who helped and coordinated. A big thank you to the staff at the Target Store for both events.

Our 2nd event served 32 children from Calvary Children's Home and those who could not make our first event on Thursday, December 19th at the Target Store, E/W Connector @ Dallas Highway. Once again thank you to the volunteers and officers/deputies who shopped with the kids.

Cobb Law Enforcement Memorial

Scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2020 on the Square in Marietta.

Georgia State Conference

Scheduled at Callaway Gardens June 15 - 18, 2020.

Cops & Kids Golf Tournament

Scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2020 at Governors Town Club in Acworth.

Annual Florida Trip

Scheduled for October 1 - 4, 2020 at Panama City Beach. Members must make the reservation and secure the reservation with your own credit card. Call 850-234-7370. Sunset Inn
