UPCOMING MEETING

Monthly Meeting Review

February 6, 2019

The meeting was opened with a prayer and pledge by Sgt. at Arms Sylvia Robinson. Our next regular scheduled Lodge meeting is Wednesday, March 6th at 5:00 pm. All members are encouraged to join us prior to the meeting (1630 hrs) for dinner. Members enjoyed many pots of chili during our annual chili cookoff. The following won the chili cookoff: Rachel Britton 3rd place, Ramona Stone 2nd place and Cathy Shrodes 1st place. Many thanks to all who participated and we hope each of the winners enjoy the gift cards.

Lodge Business

Thirty-two new members were voted into the Lodge.

Chuck Boring, Cobb ADA attended the meeting seeking support from the lodge as he seeks the position of Cobb DA. The current Cobb DA Vic Reynolds is stepping down to become Director of the GBI. The governor is expected to name his replacement soon. The members are also aware another ADA Jesse Evans is also seeking support for the position. The members held a discussion about the open position. Both of these individuals are well know by our members. They are well respected and strong supporters of law enforcement. After much discussion, members decided the Lodge President should write a letter to the Governor of Georgia encouraging him to select one of these two individuals as the next Cobb DA. We whole heartedly endorse either Church Boring or Jesse Evans as the next Cobb DA.

Many thanks to Patti Gaynor who raised $759 during her birthday via Facebook for our Charities Inc Foundation.

President Gaynor has been on a major membership drive using the FOP Legal Defense Plan as a reason to join. He is also pushing Cobb County to allow all Cobb PD & Cobb SO to have payroll deduction to join the Peace Officers Benefit and Annuity Fund which will enhance their pension benefits.

Secretary Stephens presented the end of year Membership Report and the end of year Community Outreach Programs Report. Brother Stephens presented the 2019 Budget for discussion and a vote. After reviewing members voted to accept the 2019 Lodge Budget. Members were also presented the 2019 Cobb FOP Charities Inc for review and questions. This budget will be voted on during the next Cobb FOP Charities Inc meeting for a vote.

All 2019 dues must be paid by March 31, 2019.

Treasurer Kelly provided the members a review of our current finances. Members were also provided a copy of the current year to date lodge income and expenses. Both the Lodge and Charities Inc are in good financial condition. Copies are available at all lodge meetings.

Sgt at Arms Shrodes advised he attended the State FOP meeting in January and provided a report.

All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month.
