Monthly Meeting Review

December 4, 2019

The meeting was opened with a prayer and pledge by Brother Steve Gaynor. Members enjoyed a Ham, Turkey and Chicken Dinner. Many thanks to all who provided the food. Our next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, January 8th at 5:00 pm. All members are encouraged to join us prior to the meeting (1630 hrs) for dinner. Sister Tinene Alter won the $50 attendance award.

Lodge Business

Six new members were voted into the Lodge.

President Gaynor - discussed upcoming lodge events and the need for help.

VP Jon Byrum - Discussed and provided details on the proposed Step and Grade for Cobb County Public Safety.

2VP John McCraw - Nothing to report 

Secretary/Treasurer Stephens - Advised members the lodge PayPal account is now able to accept 2020 dues payments. Also provided a report on the Lodge & Charities Inc. income and expenses. All is well financially for both organizations. Specific financial information about the lodge can be viewed at any of our monthly meetings.

Sgt at Arms Dimare - Checked the lodge during the month and all was well.

2nd Sgt at Arms Matthews - Provided a report on the Thanksgiving Food Baskets delivered to elementary schools in Douglas County.

State Trustee Shrodes - Provided a report on the overall Thanksgiving Food Bag Program. A total of 120 bags was distributed to elementary schools in Cherokee, Cobb, Douglas and Pauling County. Check out our Event Gallery for a listing of the schools. Many thanks to all who helped. Brother Shrodes also advised members the dates he would need help to unload the supplies for the Christmas Food Bags and packing the bags.

All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month. POAB Application

Sponsorships / Donations

Sandra and Marc Glazer Living Trust donated $180 to our School Lunch Payoff Program.

Patak Meat Products donated $5,000 to our School Lunch Payoff Program

Cobb Co. Friendship Club donated to our Cops & Kids Shopping Program.

Cobb Co. Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit donated $1,500 to our Cops & Kids Program.

Culver Johnson and Terry Gruzebeck donated to our School Lunch Payoff Program.

Membership Information

Yearly dues for our members in 2020 will continue to be $78 for active members and $35 for retired members. All 2020 payments will have a $3 convenience fee added to all payments received via our Paypal Account. On April 1st a $32 penalty will be added to the cost for all who have not paid their 2020 dues.

Legal Representation

All members are strongly encouraged to join the FOP Legal Defense Plan. For $68 a year (in addition to your dues) the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents) or civil action taken against the member. For $310 a year the member will be enrolled in UNLIMITED legal coverage for any criminal (includes Critical Incidents), civil or administrative actions taken against the member. Many other benefits are provided when full coverage is purchased. Payment can be made either annually or semi-annually. Because of the number of members in our lodge these plans are only available at the individual rate. Sign up and payment to this plan is the sole responsibility of the member. Death Benefit/Beneficiary

All active members are requested to update their personal information and beneficiary information on an annual basis on our application form. The application form must be mailed to the Lodge Secretary. This can only be done on a paper application form and mailed to the lodge secretary. This record allows benefits to be paid in a timely manner.

Lifetime Membership

All members wishing to apply for a Life Membership (retired & a member 20+ years) must request it in writing. Please contact the Lodge Secretary if you need your join date.

Lodge Rentals

The lodge is for the exclusive use of our members and only available for rental by them. Please conact President Gaynor for cost if you wish to reserve the lodge.

Scheduled for Sunday, December 15th from 1pm - 4pm at the lodge. Any wishing to help setup meet at the lodge at noon.

Cops & Kids Shopping Program

Scheduled for Wednesday, December 18th at the Target Store, 4125 Austell Rd., Austell Ga.

Calvary Children's Home Shopping is scheduled for Thursday, December 19th at the Target Store, E/W Connector @ Dallas Highway.

Cobb Law Enforcement Memorial

Scheduled for Thursday, May 7, 2020 on the Square in Marietta.

Georgia State Conference

Scheduled to be held in Calloway Gardens June 15 - 18, 2020.

Cops & Kids Golf Tournament

Scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2020 at Governors Town Club in Acworth.

Annual Florida Trip

Scheduled for October 1 - 4, 2020 at Panama City Beach. Members must make the reservation and secure the reservation with your own credit card. Call 850-234-7370. Sunset Inn
