Lodge Business

Four new members were accepted into the lodge.

President Gaynor updated the members in regards to the millage increase in Cobb County and the current status of the Cobb County employee pension plan. President Gaynor wanted to thank the 30 plus members of the lodge and Cobb County Government that showed up to support the millage increase proposal at the Cobb Commissioners Meeting on Wednesday, July 25th. In the end the millage increase was approved by the Commissioners for 2019. President Gaynor also updated members on the report from the auditors hired by the membership to review the financial health of the Cobb County Employees Pension Plan. President Gaynor is releasing the report for all to view. The Atlanta Journal Constitution also did a recent story specifically on the financial health of the pension plan. It did not paint a very healthy picture.

Secretary Stephens states all is well with membership. We now have 700+ members in our lodge.

Treasurer Kelly was absent so Secretary Stephens provided the members a review of our current finances. Both the Lodge and Charities Inc continue to be in good financial condition. Copies are available at all lodge meetings. Secretary Stephens also reported after expenses our annual Cops & Kids Golf Tournament at Brookstone Country Club made $11,000+ which will fund almost half of what we spend at our annual Cops & Kids Shopping Event in December. This benefits elementary aged school children from Title One Schools in our area.

State Trustee Thompson reports a leak at the lodge that is being addressed. Brother Thompson announced the dates for the Cookies with Santa is Sunday, December 9th from 1pm to 4pm and the Cops & Kids Shopping Event is Wednesday, December 12th at the Target Store on the East/West Connector.

All active Law Enforcement Officers in the State of Georgia, regardless of your affiliation with the lodge should join the Peace Officers Annuity and Benefit Fund. This very low cost fund provides another piece to the puzzle of our officers overall retirement picture. Current cost is only $20 per month.
